Hi All,
Our Client has EV 7.5 installed on Win2k3 SP2.
They are trying out EV on users in the IT dept only at present but discovered that when they open a mail that has been archived the attachment does not appear - they only see text ie <<Document.doc>>
I have been troubleshooting this with one particular mailbox.
If I log into the EV server as this user and open outlook, everything is fine.
If I log in as anything else and try it the above occurs along with an error
"There was an error loading this item -- some functionality may not be available"
If any of the other enabled users try to access their mails on their PC they don't receive the error but they have the "text only attachment" issue also.
-The users is part of Local Admins on EV server
-I have Synced the mailboxes numerous times

You appear to be having a problem actually retrieving the archived item. So in effect you are only looking at the shortcut. Given that retrieval works on the EV server the obvious place to start troubleshooting is from the client connectivity perspective.
Start with basics such as pinging ev site and server aliases.
Connect to EVweb app from client machine
Turn client side logging to max (In Outlook hold CTRL-SHIFT down and click an EV button)
Restart Outlook
Try to retrieve an item
Review logs
