EV Journal archiving using 1 Journal Mailbox - n Journal Tasks?

Hi,

 

The Intro & Planning guide for Exchange Journaling describes:

 

An Exchange Journaling task performs the archiving. One of these tasks can service multiple journaling mailboxes.

 

We have the idea to setup multiple smaller virtual (VMWare based) Enterprise Vault servers (for journal archiving). However, would that mean that we need at least an equal amount of Journal Mailboxes on Exchange, or can multiple Journaling tasks service 1 Journal Mailbox?

Hi,

 

While testing the answer was pretty clear. You can only assign one Journal Task to a specific Journal Mailbox... So I need multiple Journal mailboxes...

The Documentation is correct. You can have more than one Journal mailbox targets configured under one task and that task can journal to one vault store
