i am using EV and was wondering how Retention category and automatic deletion work together. It seems like archived items do not automatically delete with the expiriy.

automatic deletion is called Expiry in EV and it has its own schedule set at the EV Site level. the expiry will look for items that meet the specific retention settings that are specified in the system. a retention category is applied at the time an item is archived based on the settings in your environment.

how can you set to disallow automatic deletion

you have a few options. 1. at the site properties turn off the expiry schedule. 2. at the retention category uncheck the option for allow items to be deleted. 3. at the archive level uncheck the option for expire items from the archive.

correction: We are not seeing  the automactic deletions work based on the expiriy date.

What could be causung this and how do you fix it?

You need to check the three things Andrew mentioned.

You can run Storage Expiry as a run now, is that what you mean?
