Email Archive 8.0 SP4

What is the trigger date that determines when an email is archived when it is either restored from the archive back to the users inbox, or copied/moved back to the inbox from the archive.   It appears that the modified date will change to the current date. Does the policy trigger off the original sent date?

You want to know when an item restored from EV will be archived again?

If that's what you're asking, when you restore an item, the created date changes to the date an item was restored. So if you have a 1 month archiving rule, that item will be re-archived in one month.

I hope I understood your question.

Thanks that is the question. But what I am finding is when I restore emails from my archive (which have met the policy requirements)they get archived the next archive run regardless of the created or modified date set to the current date.  It appears they are using the original Sent date.

Age based archiving is based on:

"The age of a mail message is taken from the date when it was received or sent"  Having said that, see the attached. I restored these items, and then archived with a 3 day policy. As you can see it archived from the created date.

I'm a bit confused myself.

HKLM\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vaults\Agents\IgnoreEVDates - which is a DWORD entry which needs to be created.

0 = Off

1 = Ignore Archived date

2 = Ignore Restored date

3 = Ignore both Archived and Restored date

Once entered give the task a restart and it should archive the email based on your archive policy if you select 2 or 3 as a value for IgnoreEVDates.

actually you'd want to remove the key altogether

The item won't get rearchived until the policy settings (regarding age) are met following the restored date (which is an attribute added to the restored message).  You can override that with the registry key which sleddog mentioned.

So if you have a policy which says "Archive everything older than 2 weeks old".. then the restored item, if restored today, won't be eligible for archive for 2 weeks from today.

Have you gentlemen been able to find this documented, have you seen this?
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/285599.htm

For Archive Explore moving an item back to my Inbox same as restore, it works as designed according to the policy,,,but what date does it use? Its the current date, modify date changes to the current. Or is it as you say Rob an restored date attribute added to the item. So this is not a visible date to view?
Also our version is EV 8.0 SP4, doing the same in the vault cache immediately archives the items during the next archive run.  All thoughts wekcomed.

it uses a MAPI attribute called RestoredDate thats hidden in the message, you would have to use something like Outlook Spy or MFCMapi to see that attribute
The only thing to the best of my knowledge that would ignore the Restored Date would either be IgnoreEVDates as i mentioned earlier or someone manually archiving the item
