Enterprise Vault 10: After archiving VirtualVault displays in the From Field the LegacyExchangeDN instead of sender name

Hi,

we had the issue: "After Restore from Vault Outlook don't display Sender's Address" with EnterpriseVault 10.0.3.

After upgrade the Enterprise Vault Server to Version 10.0.4 this issue don't occur again.

Solved with Symantec Tech Article 207039.

As workaround for e-mails restored with EV Server Version 10.0.3 and ran into this issue (don't display the sender address)

we use Virtual Vault.

After drag restored e-mails into virtual vault and sync the vault cache (=archive) the sender address are displayed in most cases with the correct sender name again.

But in some cases this workaround are not working.

After archive the e-mails with the above issue with Virtual Vault the sender name appears with the LegacyExchangeDN.

We use Exchange 2010 SP2 with Update Rollup 6 and migrated our mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 in the last four month.

Does anybody else facing the same issue?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi

We found the issue occurres after installing following Hotfix :

  • Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 Hotfix for Build 1090
  • Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 Cumulative Hotfx 1
  • Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 Cumulative Hotfix 2

1. Hence the solution is to remove the Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 updates, follow the documentation provided in the corresponding hotfix.

Hotfix for Build 1090 - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH201489

Cumulative Hotfx 1 - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH203045

Cumulative Hotfix 2 - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH205731

2.  Note: This issue has been resolved in Enterprise Vault 10.0.4.

Hi,

Do you see same behaviour if manually archive those items using store in vault button? Also could you get a copy of client trace when you drag few items to virtual vault and synch the vault cache so it archives those items.

Hi,

i'll try to clarify the issue.

The issue arises with EV 10.0.3 and Exchange 2010.

The e-mails restored with EV Server 10.0.3 resulting in the issue "senderaddress don't displayed in the From Field".

With EV 10.0.4 the cause of the issue is fixed but e-mails without senderaddresses due to the faulty restore still resides in the mailboxes.

The only possibility I know to bring back the sender address is to drag the e-mail in Virtual Vault (and Sync afterwards). The EV Archvie with the Store in Vault-Button don't bring back the sender address.

But in some cases this workaround is not successful and the senderaddress appears after the Virtual Vault workaround with the ExchangeLegacyDN.

After a Restore the senderaddress disappears again.

So am I reading this correctly ..

ANY email which is archived by ANY EV 10.0.3 server (and Exchange 2010) when restored will have the from address 'broken' ?

Every time the item is restored?

The issue doesn't appear with a newly archived item in EV 10.0.4, which is then restored?

But it does appear with items which were archived with 10.0.3, even when restored with 10.0.4?

A work around is to re-archive the email and wait 2 minutes and re-open the email in the ARCHIVE state and you will see the sender in the FROM field . This happened to us after we installed Cumulative Hofix 2.
