Enterprise Vault server running out of space

Hi, my company has an EV server (EV 7.5, windows 2003 sp2, MS SQL 2000). The EV server now is running out of space. My questions are:

1. Can I copy one of the closed partition to a tape to free some space? I checked with some friends and they said better not do that but did not give detailed reasons.

2. If I attached another LUN to the EV server (currently it has different LUNs from the SAN storage for index/shopping, journaling, etc.). Can I move some data to this LUN? If yes, are there any guidelines/recommendations about which data to move and how?

Sorry if my questions are too simple. I am really new to EV.

The first thing to do is to create a new vault store partition on the new LUN and close the old partitions. You can move a VS partition to a new location by following the KB article.http://support.veritas.com/docs/273271. Essentially it involves copying the physical data to the new location and updating the SQL tables.
