HI All,
We are running FSA utility to run on a file server to recreate the FSA placeholders.
Everything goes fine but then the file server crashes and reboots. This only happenes when we kick of the process.
below is the event id on the file server
Event Type: Error
Event Source: System Error
Event Category: (102)
Event ID: 1003
Date: 6/3/2014
Time: 9:20:24 PM
User: N/A
Computer: X
Description:
Error code 0000000000000024, parameter1 000000000019033d, parameter2 fffffadf8dd29e00, parameter3 fffffadf8dd29810, parameter4 fffff80001098dcc.
We have applied the hotfix as per the following tech note ME910311 but still no luck.
Has anyone come across this before?

The link doesn't work (at least not for me).
You don't mention anything about versions of EV....
And does the reboot happen after awhile, or straight away?
Did you open a SYMC Support case?

Sorry about that.
Version 9.0.4
The server reboots after a while.
I have not opened a Support case.

Hi Rdosramos,
Does the recreate placeholder operation completed before reboot ??
Did you applied any security patches recently on the file server ?
We need to identify whether the BSOD is occurring because of evmf.sys (evmini filter) or its windows causing it.
This can be done only by analyzing the Crash dump which can be done by Microsoft to find whether the issue is with EV or Windows.
Additionally you can implement the following registry key on the FileServer.
Implementation of the following registry key on the target file server where the FSA agent is installed has proven to work around this issue.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EvFilter\
DWORD value
Enter the name as IncrementVPBCount
Set the value as 1
I hope this helps !!!

HI AJ
Thanks for the advise. No it does not complete at all when it happens. The system reboots during the process.
I will chat to the file admins and get the go ahead to try the reg key.
Thanks for the advise.
