I have searched Symantec's knowledge base, but couldn't find anything on how to change the path for the secondary storage location of a Vault Store Partition. We have one server, call it EV2, that never got fully utitlized and as a result has a lot of unused space we could use elsewhere. We are in the process of moving it's archives onto another EV server, call it EV1. Since there is a lot of free space on EV2, we were hoping we could move the cab files off one drive and put them on another drive on the same server. This would free up a 600GB lun that we could then attach to EV1, since it is running low on space and we can't finish the migration to EV1 without more space.
Basically, we want to rob space from EV2 to give to EV1. In order to do so, we want to update the path of the secondary storage location of the only Vault Store partition on EV2 from "F:\Enterprise vault Stores\Archive02 Ptn1 Cabs" to "D:\Enterprise vault Stores\Archive02 Ptn1 Cabs".
Is it a simple matter of stopping the Enterprise Vault services on EV2, updating the appropriate row in the Locations table in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory databse, moving the whole cab file directory tree from F:\ to D:\, and then starting the Enterprise Vault services on EV2?
In case it matters, EV2 is running version 6 SP4 server. We are getting ready to migrate to EV8, but must decommission EV2 first.
