How to remove shortcuts once archive exported back to mailbox

TRP

Hi all :)

We are migrating from exchange 2003 to 2010.

Part of this is getting rid of EV.

I have exported the contents of my archive back to my mailbox. I then deleted my archive.

WHen I go into my inbox I now have a bunch of duplicated emails, the "restored" and the "shortcut" one.

What is the easiest way of deleting these shortcuts? we have about 35 archives to do this to and I want to make it as simple as possible

thanks

Tracy

Two options One is to set the shortcut expiry to 0 days and then run the archive task to remove all the shortcuts The other is to use exchange mailbox management to remove ipm.note.enterprisevault* message class Not entirely sure why you still have shortcuts though, it should be replacing the shortcut with the original item

Hi,

You need to make change in to the Policy to make setting Shortcut Deletion, Orphaned Shortcut deletion and Run the archiving Task.

Shortcut Deletion tab (Exchange Server archiving mailbox policy setting)

Hello TRP,

If you have the ExchangeMailbox Archiving task still on the EV Server, then you can make changes to the Mailbox policy associated with those users.

  1. Go to the Propertis of the Exchange Policy applied to the user under Policies -> exchange -> Mailbox
  2. click on the Shortcut deletion Tab.
  3. Select both the Check box , Enter the age as Zero days.
  4. Click Apply and ok.
  5. Go to the Properties of the ExchangeMailboxArchiving task.
  6. Click on Synchronization tab and then click on synchronize button.
  7. Now right click on ExchangeMailboxArchiving task and select RunNow.
  8. Select the RunMode as Shortcut Processing and click on OK.

Once its compelted shorctus should be deleted from all users MAilbox.

I hope this helps !!!

What version of EV is in use? If it's an old version then shortcuts won't be removed for those items which have been moved from the original location of where they were archived. If it's a new-ish version.. that shouldn't be a problem, unless shortcut processing is turned off.
