IPM.Schedule.Meeting message class inconsistencies

DDI

Platform: EV2007SP2. We have enabled archiving of IPM.Schedule.Meeting* message class (this is the message class for meeting invitations and acceptances *not* the calendar items which are IPM.Appointment*) in the Mailbox Policy and tested the behavior.

We have noticed the following inconsistencies:

1. IPM.Schedule.Meeting.Request (the invitation, by default in sent items folder):
Item is archived
Attachments are stripped and replaced with a link to the item
No shortcut is created

2. IPM.Schedule.Meeting.Resp.Pos (the acceptance, by default in the Inbox folder):
Item is archived
A shortcut is created

Why the difference is how these are treated?

Hi,
Generally speaking we changed the logic around calendar items to improve interop with Outlook and reduce impact of the items being archived.  So meeting requests are 'complex' items and so we don't shortcut where as positive ackowledge notifications are straight forward and can be made into shortcuts as normal.

Understood. From a user experience, however, may be better to be consistent and not shortcut all requests/responses. For time being, we've elected not to archive these message types for this reason - a bit tedious to explain to users the difference.
