Migrate Enterprise Vault 10.0.3 server to Enterprise Vault 12.1 Cluster

Dear All,

Following is my Current set up for Enterprise Vault

2EV server- Ev 10.0.3 ( Windows Cluster)- Physical server

2 SQL server ( Sql 2008, Windows Cluster)- Physical Server

Now due to some business requirement we have to move EV and Sql server to Virtual Machines. For the time being we will have 1 EV and 1 Sql server, that means we are taking EV and Sql from Cluster to standalone environment

Along with this we need to Upgrade EV to version 12, I know from 10 to 12 direct upgrade is not possible so we need to plan in phases. I have following plan of action , please see if its correct or not

PHASE1 : SQL Migration

I have SQL 2012 installed and ready will migrate EV database a per below article:

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH35744

PHASE 2:

1. Move Same version of EV 10.0.3 using the below article , but this server will have a different name:

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000081331

2. Perform In place upograde to EV 11 and EV 12 on the new Server itself

For Data movement we will using robocoy as our storage is also going to be changed, as current storage and physical servers are out of warranty.

Please help me with any more suggestion

I have some confussion as I am moving from cluster to standalone server, will the process be different or its the same as described in technote. I assume clustername as one EV server and accordingly need to follow the steps in article

Hi mate,

You can upgrade in-place from version 10.0.3 to version 11.0.1, then use the EV migration wizard to migrate from the physical server (cluster) to virtual (standalone). The wizard will allow you to convert from cluster to standalone.
