Migrating Enterprise Vault v5 to another equipment

Hi,
We have a KVS version 5 with 3TB of data in a SAN (locally in the LAN w/1GB uplink).

The SAN is being used for Exchange 2003 storage only.

We are planning to move the SAN data (not the SAN hardware or the KVS installation) to a brand new hardware installation of KVS 5 with a bigger SAN and the exact same configuration for the KVS part, the "old" equipment will be used for storage of other things related to accounting.

Our management has asked us to backup the SAN and then restore the SAN data to another SAN equipment mainly because the "new" Exchange Vault SAN will be in another country.

I think I can:
-Use NetBackup to backup the SAN to an IP-based NAS of SATA disks.
- Fly with the IP-NAS to the new location
- Restore the backup
Note: I can't use the new SAN because it has not arrived yet, and I have an IP-NAS laying around useless.

Questions:
Is this possible?
Do I have to take into account something related to NTFS permissions?
OR something related to the backup/restore process of the KVS configuration?
Can netbackup do this?

Thanks in advance for all your help and comments.

Erick.

Netbackup should preserve the existing NTFS permissions. So as long as the new NAS LUNs are presented as the same volumes within Windows you should not have a problem. Don't forget to stop all the EV services while this is happening to ensure data consistency between SQL/indexes/archived data.
