Moved or deleted prior to backup

When an e-mail has been archived, but it is still pending archive until the backup has run on the EV server, what would happen if the e-mail was moved or deleted before the backup finishes the archive process?  I ask because we have a tool that will automatically profile e-mails into out document management system, which could move the e-mail prior to the backup.  Also, at some time, I'm sure someone will move something before archiving has finished.

The item would be stuck in "pending".

There is an option in the policy to reset those archive pending items after X days.

They then get archived again.
