Moving EV Enabled user mailbox from one company to another

Hi

We want to Move 200 EV Enabled user mailboxes from another company to our company (we also using EV)

Now the plan is to Disable Archiving on OLD EV Server.

Export Archives to PST

Then create new mailboxes in our Exchnage Server

Import PSTs for EV archives into our EV

Then import PSTs for active Mailbox

Now the question is Active mailbox will still have EV Shortcuts from old EV Servers.

How can we get rid of Shortcuts from their Exchange Mailbox programatically? So that when we import EV Archives (PST) it will create new shortcuts for imported PST and not have the old shortcuts pointing to invalid EV server?

Many Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,

Reading you above steps, you want to provide access to old items via PST. If it does not matter to keep shortcuts, I would do:

1 - Create new provisioning group in old environment, with desktop policy to only have Archive Explorer and Search Safe available. Create new new mailbox policy, with 'archive everything older than' set to 999 years. Set 'Delete shortcut after' to 1 day. (this removes the shortcuts, and allows users access to the old archives via Archive Explorer and Search Safe.)

2 - instruct users to NOT restore items unless really necessary.

3 - After shortcuts have been expired, disable mailboxes for archiving.

4 - export archives to PST.

5 - (if you already have the new mailboxes with the new archives) import PST's into archive, create shortcuts in new mailbox. Import Mailbox.

OR, use transvault to migrate, that will also allow you to update the existing shortcuts to point to the new archive :)

You can use Orphan Shortcut deletion provided you delete archived items from old archives after exporting them to PST files.

We cannot do that, because we want them to be able to access old EV archive until finial migration. Is there any other Way please?

How about these steps?

·        Disable Archiving for these users in their old EV.

·        Export Archives to PST, also get users access to a copy of these EV Archive PST so that they can access their old emails.

·        Delete EV Archives

·        Configure in their EV server to Delete orphan shortcuts and run storage expiry which will clear all old shortcuts.

·        Import EV archive PST with option to create shortcuts in new mailbox.

·        Then Import old Exchange Mailbox PST to new Exchange mailbox.
