Permissions not replicating to vault folder created by PST import.

Hello,

We're migration to Exchange 2003/Outlook 2003 with EV8. Part of that involves importing PST files - without Outlook shortcuts - directly into a specific folder in user's vaults.

Unfortunately, we're having a problem with the permissions: in archive explorer, some users can see other user's vaults, the folder we imported the PST into and read the messages in them. This was probably because of initially incorrect permissions in Outlook which have been copied to EV before the PSTs were imported. Now we've fixed the permissions in Outlook (only sharing the calendar folder) and waited overnight, but the problem remains.

Anyone know what to check please? How can we safely force the permissions to be applied to the import folder? The users are very annoyed so would appreciate any help!

Right now, the only permissions in Outlook for the users who can see the import folder are (1) "Reviewer" on the Calendar folder and (2) "None" permission-level with the "folder visible" option checked at Outlook today/mailbox-level. (We need the latter so that user A can add user B's calendar to their own Outlook folder list - they want to avoid doing File - Open - Other user's folders each time.)

Is the Permissions Browser utility save to use? Is it read-only or can we do damage with it?

Thanks,

- Alan.

Hi

Go to the Exchange Mailbox Task -> Properties -> Synchronize
Choose "Synchronize Permissions" and sync.

Cheers

That doesn't help on imported PST files. They seem to have a life of their own.
