Reclaiming space on Enterprise Vault

Is there a task that needs to be run to reclaim hard disk space on a drive that holds enterprise vault mailboxes. Our mailbox partition seems to be growing at a fast rate and we would have expected it to level out with data being deleted after a 6 year time span. Any advise on this would be appreciated.

Is your Storage Expiry process running?
Do you use collections?
What is the Storage device?  (ntfs, netapp, etc..)

So, you EV installation is 6 years old yet?
Remember that on default settings, the date when the e-mails was archived is considered the "beginning" of the retention period.
