Removing active mailboxes from archiving

We have several accounts recently added to enterprise vault that need to be removed from archiving but have mail already archived. After adding them to Enterprise Vault management has requested that the users be removed after complaints about retrieving large archived mail. We need to remove the accounts from archiving, but at the same time retrieve any archived mail back to exchange and these accounts have anywhere from 500MB to 1.5 GB mailboxes. We were not able to find anything in the admin guide and management is starting to get antsy...
We are using EV 5.0 with Exchange 2003, both running on Windows 2000 platforms...

In the Vault Admin Console highlight the Archives folder then right click. Choose Export. A wizard will walk you through and one of the options is back to mailbox.

Then use the EV Disable Mbx Wizard to disable the users.Message was edited by:

hmmmm,
With EV5.0, your probable best bet would be to export the archive to either a pst or directly back to exchange (I know 6.0 can do this, but I can't remember if 5 does). Then just disable the mailbox.
Quick question tho...why is managment getting antsy about retreiving large email attachments? Is the EV server over a WAN or something? In most cases (if properly architected) it should be pretty speedy.

No, it is local, and I've seen some of the delays on the CFO's machine and it could just be a small network hiccup where it takes about 20 seconds to open an email with a 5MB attachment, but more importantly they are just not used to waiting AT ALL and want instant access to their email.
When you say disable the mailbox, you are talking about disabling the archiving from Enterprise Vault as opposed to Exchange, correct?
