Running EVPM

Does anyone know where I can find more detail on running EVPM?  What server does the evpm.ini file need to reside on?  Does each Exchange server need to have an evpm.ini file?

When I run EVPM from one of our EV mail servers, I recieve the following error:
"Specified .ini file not found EVPM.ini"

Please help.

Jason

There is a section for EVPM in the Utilities.chm under Policy Manager.

Also, there are many Technote's:
Here is one to look at.

I've tried both and have not been able to determine what is wrong.

Thanks though.

are you running the command local to the EV Server?

Can you walk us through step by step what you are doing?

Also this doesn't look right:
[Folder]
Name=\> Active Items (Do Not Archive)

I think you want it to be:
[Folder]
Name=\Active Items (Do Not Archive)

What server should the evpm.ini file reside on?

From what servers should I run evpm?

It should be on the EV Server and you should run it on the EV Server.

Aside from the bit that Tony put :-

[Folder]
Name=\Active Items (Do Not Archive)

(Though it works with the > on my system) You should also make sure your retention category listed exists.  Make sure that your .ini file is unicode (though in EV 8 at least, EVPM will tell you if the file isn't in unicode), and you will need some sort of target to run against (otherwise the script will do nothing), for example add a section :

[mailbox]
distinguishedname = /o=my org/ou=First Administratrive Group/cn=Recipients/cn=mytestuser
Working for cloudficient.com

I have successfully run EVPM!

I'm not quite sure, but it may have been related to a Case issue.  Anyway, my new EVPM created folder is working.

Thanks for everyone's help.
