Shift/Delete in Outlook

When an Outlook users does a shift+delete on a message they want to permanently delete, how does EV handle that?  Will EV still capture and archive that message?

Items permanently deleted (Shift+Delete) are gone meaning EV will not archive them since its been deleted from the Exchange environment. However if you have enabled the dumpster feature in outlook AND set a retention time for items deleted, then you can retrieve the items before they are permanently removed.

My experience with this has shown that items held on retention are not archived.
