From the http://localhost/evbaadmin, I have created a database named  called daconfig.

The location is d:\data\data and d:\data\log.

I have als created a customer database.

When I install the Discovery Client 8.02 on the server where the DA and EV 8.02 resides, I have the following erro

""Unable to retrive a list of instance. There are no instace available. ""

I physically see the database and log file ( d;\da\data and d:\data\log)  was created.

Howerver, when I go to the SQL 2005 Studio, I cannot see the daconfig database shown

Note : The EV is 8.02 running on the same box as EV Server.

First check your event log to ensure that your DA license is installed correctly through EVBAADMIN

Reapply it to be sure

Next stop your Discovery Accererator service and restart IIS

Finally start your DA service

are you looking at the correct instance of SQL.  The customer database should be there.

You could try to attach it manually and see what message pops up.

Hi,

I will verify when I'm customer site on Monday.

By the way, If I have created the customer database and assume it is there e.g    SQLServer\Sunsql

Why does the DA Client show the error """Unable to retrive a list of instance. There are no instance available. ""

Thanks

did you enter the DA server in the field for it to search for?

Yobo,

I would also recommend installing the DA client on a different computer than the DA server.  I found odd behavior with this configuration and it is not recommended by Symantec.

Hi,

I install the DA Client on one of the PC. It still unable to retrive the instance?

How do I enabled the DA Client to select the instance?

If I have the SQL Server   e.g SQLSERVER\SUNSQL,   thus SUNSQL is the instance.

How does the client get connected to which customer database?

are you entering SUNSQL in the box or the DA Server?

You need to enter the name of the DA Server NOT the SQL server.

Hi,

The database for the DA during configuration is   DAconfig.

Two customer database are created. CustomreA and CustomerB.

Server is SQLSERVER and instalce is SUNQL.

From the client how should I access daconfig or I should alo access the customer database?

Tks for your patience.

you enter in the name of your da server.  not the sql server or database names.

You say that DA and EV are on the same box, so just enter the name of the EV\DA server in the box.
