It happens when trying to recall some files using both placeholders or archive explorer.

I get the following error in the event viewer.

Anyone can help?

It looks like the storage service is not able to retrive the item from the Centera.

It's only for some items, other items just work as expected.

Error 0x80040106 doesn't tell me much.

Version 9.0.2 just updated O.S. Windows 2003.

Yes, System Manager is installed on the server.

The DB server was moved to SQL 2008 just recently but the customer doesn't know if the problem was there before.

It doesn't look like as a DB problem to me, Email archiving is fine it's only a problem on the FSA.

i know this is going to sound bizarro but you can you remove ESM at all?
I seem to recall a case like this where it revolved around the wrong MAPI32.DLL being used in the C:\Windows\System32\ directory (possibly running a fixmapi may resolve this as well)

Exchange System Manager hasn't been a requirement since Enterprise Vault 2007 base release and is only required when synchronizing across Inheritied Permissions (which by default are turned off, and very very very very few customers use it), inherited permissions are not to be confused with delegate permissions set through outlook, but is actually permissions set through Active Directory to a users mailbox

Just to let you know,...

FSA items archived in EV 6.0 use MAPI for retrieval and Outlook was not correctly installed on the server
Reinstalling Outlook on FSA EV server solved the problem.
