Upgrade vault from 5.0 To 5 SP5

David_Evestaff

Hi,

we want to upgrade our vault 5 to to 5 SP5 so we can install SP1 for windows 2003. I have downloaded the install at http://ftp.support.veritas.com/pub/support/products/Exchange_Mailbox_Archiving_Unit/ev50_sp5_277697.zip

has anyone done this before who can suggest any extra things we should do?

for example, it is worth doing SP1 first then SP2 SP3...etc before i install SP5 or could i go right to SP5?

Thanks in advance,

The technote must need updating. If you have installed sp6 you are all set.

Enterprise Vault has now been certified against Exchange 2003 sp2. Both Enterprise Vault V5 and V6 are supported.

See this article for the full certification table.

Note there is also information on a hotfix you may require for Exchange 2003 sp1 and sp2 to fix multi-lingual issues.

Hi,

I suggest going to sp6 and not sp5.

As far as I can see no reason not to just go from v5 to v5 sp6 directly.

I was under the understanding that the SP6 was not a final release?

David,

no, SP6 fully relesed and definately the right one to deploy:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/279962.htm

no need for pre-deploying other SPs just go straight to SP6. No database changes made during any version 5 service packs.

indeed, thanks.

Hhowever after installing this we will now have to wait for the OK on exchange 2003 SP2 as it says at the top of that document that it has not been cerified yet. although when you go to the tables it says 'Y' by exchange 2003 SP2... most odd.

During the install, i'm assuming is a setup.exe or sumthing which then installs the patch. will we have to run the configure vault thing all again?

thanks for your help.

Thats great thanks very much!

Has there been any issues that anyone has come into with such a upgrade or has it all gone simple and smoothly?

If you're doing an upgrade, why not go to EV6.0sp1?
