Hi,

I have 1 user out of 900 (that I'm aware of) which cannot complete the following tasks

1. Manually archive an email. Error message is 0x80070005 : access is denied.
2. Every 5 minutes or so, a windows login box pops up asking the user to log in
3. click on search vault, and again the user is prompted to log in.

Some notes :
DCOM is running on the server and the workstations
user hasn't changed their password recently
user can access all internal intranet websites that require windows authentication fine
IE settings are to use currently logged in user's details for all trusted domains
our domains are listed in the trusted sites.

Help!
Justin

What happens when you click on search the first time, do you get prompt?
Is the Enterprise Vault servers added to the "bypass proxy for local intranet sites"?

What exactly do you require from the dcom client? I always recommend the http client unless the customer wants the properties page, which most don't. So if your users don't use the properties page, why not change the dcom client to use http mode?

I had this same problem with a few of my users (about 5 out of 1200). Same thing... trusted domain, etc... And i did the same thing as what Wayne suggested and it worked for me.

SInce I mass deploy the client, I didnt want to send the http only client to just these few people. it was easier to put Outlook in http mode.

(Outlook 2003)
In Outlook - > Tools -> Email Accounts ->View or change existing.. -> Change -> More Settings -> Connection Tab

Check "Connect to my exchange mailbox using Http"
Restart Outlook.
Like Wayne said the only downside I can see is the user loses the Enterprise Vault tab when you view the properties of a mail folder. Most users don't even know or care about it anyway.
