Meet the Hiring Manager: Sachin Naik

I’ve recently had the opportunity to sit down with one of our leaders within the Technical Support organization of Veritas. Sachin shares his experience at Veritas, as well as some tips for landing your next role! Read more to learn more about Sachin, his role at Veritas, and his hiring requirements.   


Hiring Manager: Sachin Naik 
Job title: Director, Technical Support 
Years at Veritas: 1.5 years 

First job:My first non-corporate job was with an elevator company where I worked on the sales engineering team. I worked closely with the Sales team on solutions and proposals for local clients.  

First corporate job: My first corporate job was with a multinational company that manufactured laminate tubes. As a Trainee Electronics Engineer deployed, my responsibilities were to manage the upkeep and uptime of a Swiss production CNC (computer numerical control) machine. 

Fun fact:
I am passionate about sports, including cricket, soccer, and any form of outdoor sports. I love reading and make a conscious attempt to read about diverse topics as there is so much that I don’t know but want to learn. I enjoy meeting new people and learning from their experiences.

I love staying connected with my friends and family through WhatsApp, Facetime, and other social platforms.  

Describe your role and responsibilities at Veritas:  
My key responsibility as a part of the Global Customer Support (GCS) organization is to ensure that we build a high-performance Technical Support Team that delivers excellent value to our customers. My role is to create a culture of trust and transparency that empowers our teams to take ownership and act in a manner that keeps the client at the center of all things. My team has partnerships with key internal stakeholders such as Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Sales Engineering, and more. We engage in activities that create wins for Veritas.  We work with peers and senior leaders worldwide to drive programs, projects, and initiatives that support operational excellence. 

What is your favorite aspect of working at Veritas?  
The people, the work culture, and the exposure to technology are some of my favorite aspects of working at Veritas. The opportunities are limitless with an infectious vibe of innovation and creativity at the core. There is never a dull day at the office, and you constantly feel challenged to raise the bar and try new things, which I find highly satisfying.  

What has been the biggest lesson(s) you have learned as you progress in your career? 
There have been many lessons along the way in my professional journey and I continue to learn each day. I try not to take myself too seriously and believe that the best solutions are simple and could come from anyone. While there are no substitutes for working hard and a strong work ethic, being an authentic leader that inspires trust, positively engages the talent pool, and acts as an enabler and force multiplier are attributes that are vital.  

Your team is hiring. Can you tell us more about your organization’s charter?  
The goal is to create a high performing Technical Support Organization. This requires a combination of great technical skills (Unix, Windows, Networking, Storage, etc.) customer centricity, troubleshooting skills, and the passion to serve. Technical Support makes investments focused on Troubleshooting training, Cloud trainings and labs, Support Readiness for new releases and products, Support Tools and technology, and Remote Services–Proactive Support covering Supportability and Serviceability aspects, all in line with our product roadmap. 

What advice would you give to a candidate who is looking to interview and join your team? 
We work in a highly dynamic environment and look for individuals that believe that they can make a difference. A client-first approach is an absolute must as they rely on our support engineers to solve their problems.
