Dear Sirs/Madam,
I need to seek your advice. Currently there are some "VMWARE datastore" LUNs from a netapp storage presented to a NBU appliance for VM backup. We need to decomm these VMWARE datastore LUNs..
maintenance-!> lsscsi -g
[0:2:0:0] disk Intel RMS25CB080 3.40 /dev/sda /dev/sg0
[1:2:0:0] disk Intel MegaSR 1.0 /dev/sdb /dev/sg1
[2:0:0:0] tape HP Ultrium 3-SCSI M63W /dev/st0 /dev/sg8
[2:0:0:1] mediumx HP MSL G3 Series 7.30 /dev/sch0 /dev/sg9
[3:0:0:0] disk NETAPP LUN 820a /dev/sdc /dev/sg2
From NBU appliance, do we need to issue any commands such as detach or unmapping of the mounted disks before we unmap from the Netapp storage?
Seeking your advice
Thank you

Hi
I would just unmap and once done run scan on appliance - Manage/Storage/Scan - from time to time I am in need to reboot a appalince in order to have correct list of LUNs.
Since this lun is not mounted there not read (no backups should be running for decommed data store) is being made it is just OK to unmap.

ok thanks. someone suggested to shutdown the nbu appliance before removing the luns.will try that tomorrow.
