3-way NDMP backup of netapp filer "backup selections" options?

Folks,

I'm converting our NFS mounted netapp shares to NDMP. Our NFS mounted backup selections looked something like this:

/mount/dir/*

The netapp volume /mount/dir is huge with several qtrees under it. If we left it at /mount/dir/ it would only create one backup job and take forever. Using the /mount/dir/* allowed netbackup to spawn a separate job for each sub-dir or qtree. Speeding up the backup greatly.

How is this accomplished using NDMP 3-way since no wild cards are used?

Also when you specific a selections list, is the first path in the list the first to start when the policy is queued?

thks.

We have configured NFS mounts as an NDMP netapp backups in our environment

First you need to know the NetApp volume name, which is allocated at storage level.  It will starting with /vol0/*  etc.

Second,  configure a NDMP policy in netbackup with that NetApp volume name as backup selection .

Thats it you are ready to go.
