Please share all relevant info:

Is this a new client that has never worked before?

Is master server also the media server or separate media server(s)?

OS on Master, Media server and client?
NBU version and patch level on master, media server and client?

Have you verified forward and reverse hostname lookup in all directions?
(master <-> client, media <-> client) See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH27430

Have you verified port connectivity in all directions?
(master <-> client, media <-> client)
Up to NBU 7.0, vnetd (port 13724) is used. As from 7.0.1, PBX (port 1556) is used.
Windows firewall on client must be turned off.
Test connectivity as follows from master and media server(s):
Create bpcd log folder on the client under netbackup\logs
Run this command from cmd on server(s):
bptestbpcd -client <XXXXXX> -debug -verbose

Please post output of command as well as Client's bpcd log file.

Madhuri, What is the OS of client having issue and what is the backup selection ?Is it happeing with all types of backup , even if you manually select a folder to backup ? Do you see any VSS Event ID: 40961 in Event Viewer, Application logs? Also see if you see any logging in bpfis and bpbkar logs on client.
