6.5.5 Novell Netware Cluster "Target" Restores

GloNetAdmin

We are currently using Netbackup Enterprise 7.5.07 with success and using Linux instead of Netware.  At times a restore is needed from our old Solaris 9 Netbackup Ent. 6.5.5.  Under 6.5.5 we backed up our Novell Netware cluster using "Targets".  The successful restore process was having -  Source client: Netware Target   Destination client: Netware Target.  We would like to have a succesful restore when changing the Destination client:  from Netware Target to either the linux cluster or linux server name.  What happens instead is that the file restore states successful but adds 2k to the file.  The file either opens and is garbage or can't be opened and message states program does not recognize file format.  Please advise.

Hello,

Just to make sure, is the filesystem type your restoring to the same as what you backed up from?

Netware has a article on Restoring Netware Backups to OES2 Linux file Systems

While you can do a restore from a Netware backup to a linux target, Symantec cannot guarantee filesystem compatibility when trying to restore files to a different filesystem type than the original. (TECH31677)
