Yes, Accl backup is accl re-scan, and it's backup using policy with 'Use Accelerator' enabled.
track_journal.v1.dat is used to store Accelerator related information, it should not be removed. No matter check point recovery is enabled or not.

few more info....
-rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 635757766 Jul 11 07:56 track_journal.v1.dat got failed with status code 41. the re-scan is going on in second attempt. that only created 435550736 Jul 12 20:32 track_journal.v1.dat.client.domain_Ctime.

Please don't remove the tracklog file.
And, following is Accelerator work flow:
o) After the 1st accl backup finished, track_journal.v1.dat is generated.
o) When the 2nd accl backup starting, NBU compare the current data selection with previous track_journal.v1.dat, and generate tracklog track_journal.v1.dat.client.domain_Ctime for this backup.
o) after the 2nd accl backup finished, automatically remove the old track_journal.v1.dat. and rename tracklog track_journal.v1.dat.client.domain_Ctime as track_journal.v1.dat.
o) the 3rd accl backup will use the new track_journal.v1.dat generated by the 2nd backup.
So, you should NOT manually remove the tracklog, otherwise, it may causes backup failure.

Thank you Andy.
ok I will not remove the track_journal.v1.dat file. As there is no "check point recovery enabled" still we need to keep the track_journal.v1.dat untill the tracklog track_journal.v1.dat.client.domain_Ctime gets completed?
accl backup refers to accl re-scan, right?

Hello,
If you're running out of space you can relocate the track logs to some other drive where you have space.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO77409
Check Point restarts and the track logs/accelerator are two separate things. keep the track log folder intact as per Andrew's post.
