The problem exist since yesterday. Everytime I update Inventory Robot, the system will auto generate A0000x even though there is no physical tape inside the tape drive. The "x" number will keep increasing each time I do the inventory update. Can anybody help me coz I don't want to keep deleting auto generating media id. Thank you.
Hi, Your's is a standalone environment ? WHen you insert tape in the drive what doyou see in the device monitor Under the columns "Extrernal Media ID" "Recorded Media ID" ? If you are getting the value as A0000X under these columns then change the label of the media in the drive by the command bplabel -m -d (Note :- any backups on the media will be lost)
If i am not wrong the ID couldn't be autogenerated unless there is no physical tape in the drive. The id is autogenerated if there is no ID assigned to the media.
I hope i got your question right

thanks for the reply. i'm having tape library unit with a bar-code reader. all this while, everything work fine. that's why i don't u/stand, why the system always generate A0000x+1 for the slot which is no physical tape inside that slot. Eg. Slot1 to 6 - there is a tapes. Slot 7 - no physical tape. when I update the inv. robot, then A0000x+1 will logically assigned to Slot7. and one more thing, it only happen on Netbackup pool.
