Backup failing with EC 58

Hello All,

Facing an issue with client backup failing with EC 58.
Master is 7.1 Solaris 10,Media server is 6.5 Solaris 10

Checked the host file entries of the servers and it looks fine. But still it seems that media server is not communicating with the client. Also we use HOP servers to log onto client and media server.
So need to know if we need to update host files of HOP servers also.

Please suggest.

Firstly - PLEASE upgrade your media server as NBU 6.5 is no longer supported.

Two possible causes for status 58:
firewall between server and client
incorrect hostname lookup or reverse lookup

Troubleshoot connectivity between media server and client as follows:

  • Create bpcd log folder on client.
  • Test connectivity by running this command on the media server:
    bptestbpcd -client <client-name> -debug -verbose

Check output of command as well as client's bpcd log for clues.

You can post output and log here so that we can assist.

Issue has been resolved and it was found that firewall was obstructing the connectivity. Thanks Mariaanne.:)
