Backup fails with status 58. bptestbpcd command gives exit status 0. server shows to be connected in host properties.

An old entry for gama1.unix.gsm1900.org in a hosts file on media server?

Bad DNS entry for gama1.unix.gsm1900.org in the DNS server of the media server?

Corrupt NetBackup name cache on media server?  To clear this, run this on media server:    bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache

Which media server is used for STU_PX_MSDP_beta ? Test comms between this media server and the client. Test forward and reverse name lookup as well as port connectivity.

Where did you run the bptestbpcd command from - the media server or the master? Try on both.

Thanks all..

etc/host file was not updated with new media server, hence backups were failing. removed the particular media server to be used from the storage unit. backups are successful with other media servers. have requested the concerned team  to update etc/host file  as we dont have access to this server.
