Hi All,

One of my windows NET client backup's are continously failing with EC:54.

nslookup on my master is fine.
connectivity between master, media and clinet is also fine.
when i try to telnet the client  thru bpcd form master...it is giving me error message like below.

>> telnet 159.156.65.25 bpcd
Trying 159.156.65.25...
Connected to 159.156.65.25.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

bpcd is listening on the client and registry entries are also fine. Services are running.
and the client netbackup version is 5.1 MP 5.
Master netbackup version is 6.5.1(Unix).

Can anyone help me to resolve this backup issue plsss!!

Thanks,
Shyam Prasad

DNS is fine but I would also add the addresses to the local hosts file.
I also like to run on the master and also on the media server
bptestbpcd -client <clientname> -verbose

You can use the IP address or the name for the clientname value

You say nslookup is fine - have you tested reverse lookup as well? Can the client resolve the master and media server IP addresses back to hostname?
Please ensure that you have a bpcd log directory on the client and do the following from the master and the media server:
bptestbpcd -client <client_name>

Please post the errors seen in bpcd log after failed connection attempt.

When you do your telnet test from the master to the clients bpcd. Does it connect and hold or does it connect and instantly drop?

Bob is correct, i also faced the same issue on LINUX system.

I have added the master and media server name in host file, the issue is resolved.

Adding the hostname in the local hosts file resolved the issue.
now the backups are completing successfully.
Thank again.
