We have Windows 200 server using NBU5.1MP5 and cobfigured backups on solaris master & media server using same NBU version..THe backup for this server failing with 54 error..We checked all communication everything looks fine..and we did reboot the server , re-installed the netbackup twice..

It is behaving very bad....Whn we telnet to the server bpcd port from master /media it is coming out  imemdiately..

 telnet gsdnt73 bpcd
Trying 52.99.108.206...
Connected to gsdnt73.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection to gsdnt73 closed by foreign host.    ==>>Coming out without pressing enter

So please suggest what could be the reason for this..

From client o master/media communication is fine..and also all registry settings looks fine..

ANy help is greatly appreciate..

Hi Raj,

let me know o/p of below

from master
ping <client>
telnet <client> bpcd
<install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\bplcntcmd -hn <client>
<install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\bpclntcmd -ip <ip address of client>

from client

ping <master>
telnet <master> bprd
bpclntcmd -self
<install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\bpclntcmd -hn <master>
<install-path>\veritas\netbackup\bin\bpclntcmd -ip <ip address of master>

also check on client,
go to backup archive restore window. File --> Netbackup machine and policy type and make sure server tab has your master server has current and client/policy tab has your client made as current. client and server entry should be correctly specified.
