Flashbackup appears to b a canditate for backup/recovery of unmounted volumes using the volume GUID which is somthing like this: \\?\Volume{24b604bd-0897-11dc-8a66-806e6f6e6963}\ i.e. a bit like backing up a Unix partition.
Why: Currently using unmounted volumes as VSS Shadow Storage targets. The VSS snapshots are taken at regular intervals for helpdesk/user enabled undelete service that avoids pestering the NBU admins for simple recoveries.
Moved to umounted volumes becasue when mounted people used them other purposes and their temp junk etc.
Found that standard windows policy is a non-starter, may be flashbackup?
