Unable to view backup history, missing

Hi Netbackup Guru's

I'm running Netbackup 6.5  on Solaris 10. I have created policies for both online & offline SAP database backups. The policy type  in bothe cases is SAP & execution of backups using these policies is OK.

However I'm experiencing problems when I attempt to view the backup history when trying to do  a restore.

When I go to the  Specify Netbackup Machines & Policy Type window the Policy Type for Restore the option for SAP is missing . Since my backup policies are for SAP nothing is displayed in the backup history.

NB: when creating policies the option for SAP is available in the policy type dropdown

Kindly assist

regards

When you post its helpful to give as much detail of versions in use.

from the master server can you post the output of

cat /usr/openv/netbackup/version

Which "backup archive restore" gui are you running version : Java or Windows

And is it on the master server or remotely you are running this.

Are you seeing any other policy types from the drop down list.

If you are only on 6.5 and not 6.5.[1-6] its advisable to update your master server as there may be bugs that have been ironed out since.

I rarely use the java gui but can confirm that the SAP type, and several other "Policy types for restore" are 'missing'.

I am using NBU 6.5.5

There was a similar discussion here:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-restore-sap-jnbsa

Likewise our SAP DBA using the command line tools to perform the restores.

However, using the Windows BAR GUI you can see the SAP policy type backups listed.

You cannot use the GUI to browse or restore SAP backups.

To browse, you can use bplist from the master or the client. From master:

bplist -C <client> -t 17 -R /

To restore, you will use brrestore or brrecover.

just my $0.02, according to the SAP support policy, backups and restores carried out ouside of brbackup/brrestore tools provided by SAP are not support by SAP. So, just use the SAP tools. Alternatively, you still can browse backupsets via bplist, but you can't recover with bprestore.

You need to replace mm/dd/yyyy with actual date:

mm = month
dd = day
yyyy = year

So, if you want to list backups done since Saturday 11 December, you will use:

-s 12/11/2010

If you want to list backups done between Saturday and Monday, you will use:

-s 12/11/2010 -e 12/13/2010
