We need to backup the ESXi contents and its configuration so in case of pb we can re-install from scratch a new one from the backups?

NetBackup can backup and restore the VMs on an ESX server, not the ESX/ESXi server itself.

Know there has been a command in vmware to backup the configuration on the ESX systems. Think you will have to look on the vmware site to find the same command for ESXi if it exists.
