Disable files estimate before start backup

Hi all,

I am backing up a file server with lots and lots of small files that's around 600GB. Before tapewriting starts, netbackup counts up every file to get the estimated number of files. This takes about 7hours to do it!

Both Netbackup and the file server are Windows 2003 server.

We are running Netbackup Server and Client 6.5.1

Is there an easy way to disable this feature?

That is part of the Netbackup process, you can try to disable the VSS or VSP but you will still get a long time to perform this backups, because NBU normaly works with big files you can backup 1TB file much faster than a 1GB of small files, in this cases you use some other tools that help NBU to perform a better and faster netbackup, you should try FlashBackups or PureDisk who are secondary modules of NBU and of course they require an other license, but for the issue you have it will definitely help.
