Hi all experts,

We have Netbackup 6.5.5 in Solaris 10 Sparc 64 bit. We have LTO3 drive. My tape drives are going down. I tried to UP through GUI but after few minutes then  it goes back to previous state. I checked vr/adm/messages and then took one tapes out so drive can release tapes

However the error still persists.

1) I shutdown the whole system both master server and media server and turned back on

2) I open a slot from  megazine so that drive can release the tapes

Nothing works. Please help. I heard that deleting drives and adding it can resolves the issue but i can t find the command to do it. I appreciate if someone can help me out on that. I need your help pls

move the tape out of the drive (1 or 2?)

or

move the tape out of slot 6

or both!

Looks to me like someone has manually inserted tapes & has inadvertantly filled the slot (6) that was actually "occupied" by the tape that was in the drive (1 or 2?).

You'll need to correct this either via robtest as above or manually & then re-inventory the library (maybe even power-cycle) to get both the libraries internal d/b & NetBackups d/b back in sync.

Thanks for your help. Can you give me the command to move the tape out from drive by robtest? For example if the tape id is 000012?

Robtest commands that can be used to test the SCSI functionality of a robot

Example in T/N, but essentially you would be moving (m) from a drive (e.g. d1) to a vacant slot (e.g. s3) - you'll obviously have to determine the actual values yourself!

m d1 p1

Will move the volume from drive 1 to MAP/CAP port 1.

Then you can run Inventory with Update, Empty Media Access Port, via the GUI.
