We backup some exchange 2003 mailbox stores that are mounted on Netapp filers. They are hosted on iscsi LUNs, backed up by selectng a consistant snapshot generated by snapmanager for exchange.
This has always worked in the past, but a recent restore attempt has failed with error "the restore failed to recover the requested files."
Have tried expiring the catalog and recreating via import, and tried on a different master server.
The problem seems to be the catalog, as when browsing to the image, the restore shows the volume\qtree that should contain the lun, but no lun is present. This is a problem with all backups listed between July 08 and Jan 09 inclusive. Earlier and leter backups appear to be ok as they are showing the LUNS.
This is a big concern as it looks like something is corrupted, and we cannot guarantee a restore from these dates.
