Hi,
I would like to exclude few directories from backup . NB version is 7.6.0.3 . Master server is RHEL & Client is Solaris11
I have added /usr/openv/exclude_list_policyname & added the directory but when I run the backup it takes into backup.

Is CIO_10.10.14.66_Prod your policy name?
This will not work because of all the .'s (dots) in the policy name.
Exclude lists works as follows:
So, your exclude_list filename is interpreted by NBU as follows:
Policy name: CIO_10
Shedule name: 10
And the rest is ignored!
Create a new policy without any dots in the name.

The exclude_list_policyname file needs to be in /usr/openv/netbackup on the client, NOT /usr/openv/

The filename must be /usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list.policyname
Note the path and the . (dot), not _.
Check that policy name matches the policy name on the master exactly (case sensitive).
Create bpbkar log folder on the client to troubleshoot any other issues with exclude list.

Well spotted on the . - either way OP it won't work in /usr/openv/
If it doesn't work when moved to /usr/openv/netbackup. with the correct filename then just test it with the filename as /usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list (this exclude list will affect all policies for the client) if it still doesn't work then the bpbkar log with VERBOSE logging and /usr/openv/netbackup/bpbkar_path_tr touch file in place would help as suggested. Post this up along with the contents of the exclude_list file.

Corrected the entires but no luck .
I would like to take the backup of other directories from /App01 except /App01/ftpgpuser

Ok, have you tried renaming the exclude_list.CIO_10.10.14.66_Prod to just exclude_list and running the backup?
Let's have a look at the bpbkar log please. Post it up.

Marianne - that is spot on.
OP once you have confirmed this has worked, please mark Marianes post above as solution.
