All,

I am moving my Netbackup server to a new machine and I don't know how to export the catalog from the old server and import it into the new one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

As long as you are keeping the same host name process is straight forward -

Perform the catalog backup through online/offline depending upon version of NetBackup you are using. Proces is well explained in chapter, " Managin Catalogs and Images" of Admin Guide I.

Restore/Import process is well defined in Troubleshooting Guide under chapter, Disaster Recovery. Keep in mind process is bit different with diferent version of NetBackups depending upon the type of catalog backup.

Hi,

We have a situation in which we need to perform restore on a remote NB machine.  After completing the backup process at local site, we ship the tapes to remote site and the remote NB operator then start the tape "import" process before the actural restore operation can be performed.  The import process takes quite long and I guess it is because it needs to scan the entire tapes and recreate the catalog entry.  Is there a way to export/extract a catalog entry from a NB catalog and import/merge it into another one without requiring performing the tape import process?  Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Yung
