We have a vmware file server that maps to a raw SAN LUN. Backups are pathetically slow and since the volume is independant I can't use snapshot to get at a VMDK for it or anything. I have done reading on how to backup a SAN LUN on a normal server but cannot figure out how to do it in this instance. Has anyone else gotten this to work? Flashbackup is supposed to be able to take a listing of everything on the volume from the client machine and then attach to the SAN LUN and do a block level backup from everything I have read but I cannot figure out how to do this. We are using an HP EVA 4100 if that is relevant.
