A quick search of the NetBackup Support KB (Knowledge Base) revealed:

GENERAL ERROR: Windows 2003 Event Logs are selected for restore to an alternate location. The restore completes, but the files are not restored.

There is good chance that the backup software simply backs up event logs in their open state, primary problem with backing up event logs is that they're open and actively capturing and storing new events just about all of the time, even during backups. If you back up an active, changing file (particularly one that isn't a text-based file), you'll likely find that the backup file is corrupt and inaccessible.

One means of ensuring successful event-log backups is to use Windows Management Instrumentation's (WMI's) Win32_NTEventLogFile class. By using a script or scheduled task that incorporates this class's BackupEventLog method, you can create recoverable and viewable copies of all your event logs. The event logs are static and not open during system backups, so when they're restored, you can count on them being accessible and uncorrupted.

hope you find the info usefull.... also if you have traced the location of eventlog files and triggered an restore do provide the same..

Best Regards,
