Adding a NetBackup client to a policy from the command line is easy using the bpplclients command.
bpplclients
Example:
bpplclients my_test_policy -add my-test.mydomain.com Linux RedHat2.6
or for a Windows server
bpplclients my_windows_policy -add my-wintest.mydomain.com PC Windows2003
To confirm that it has been added you can run bppllist my_test_policy -U and review the list of clients in the policy.
Hope this helps...

In GUI, I will tell the steps, please correct me if I am wrong
- Create new policy
- Give the name of the polict and a wizard will pop-up > Click on next
- over their it asks "to which client" here we should add the server right?
Will it be seen here by selecting "Standard" option?
Thanks

Hi RKS,
When you try to create the policy though GUI. I am telling you easy way to configure.
In Left Pane, You will see Policy option in Netbackup administtation console.
1. Click on policy Option- right click- new policy ( will see new window)
Here, you uncheck the "use backup policy configuration wizard", it will show in bottom of this window
2. Give the Policy name.-click Ok
3. You will see new window, in this window will see Client Tab- Click on this tab.
4. In this client tab window- Click on " New Button"
5. Put the client full name like. ab01c.tst.md
6. will automatically detect the Client O/S.

Hi RKS,
I see two questions of you about Netbackup, please note that you are posting in the Backup Exec forum.
Netbackup has it's own forum here:

You do not "discover" a server in netbackup.
Once you get the client installed you have to go add it to a policy ( can be one you already have or you can create a new policy) you cannot mix windows and unix servers in the same policy. Once the client is in a policy it will show up in the client list in the gui (which is just a list of all clients listed in your policies.)
