Friends,

Quick one i need to setup the global exclusion list with the following on all windows 2003/2008 clients.. what is the best possible way to appraoch this.

No of Windows 2003 clients 90

No of windows 2008 clients 103

Exclusion list:

%RECYCLER%

%System Volume Information%

%$RECYCLE.BIN%

how would you add that in the netbackup client properties-->exclude list

i dont want to go through each client find how many drives they have and add one by one exclusion on each client..

correct syntax of exclusion would highly be appreicated..

You can select all clients and hit enter so that they all load (takes ages!!) and then set the exclusion and  press "Apply" so that it applies to all of them.

Alternatively push out a registry edit (script file or using AD) to edit the exclude key under:

HKLM\Software\Veritas\NetBAckup\CurrentVersion\Config\

The syntax for these would just be *Recycle.Bin, *System Volume Information and * Recycler

That should be enough to exclude then all across the system

Test this one one client first to make sure it gives you what you want

There is one thing to bear in mind with exclusions ....

If you have ever set a Policy or Schedule specific exclusion for a client then that client will need its exclusions doing differently it they will need to go under the CLASS: and or SCHED: section of its registry

Hoep you get the results you needed
