How to go for Netbackup 6.0 MP7 on windows 2003 32 bit to NB 7.x on windows 2008 64 bit

Hello

I am planning to upgrade my NB infrastructure. Currently NB 6.0 MP7 is installed on HP blade hardware with Windows 2003 OS and planning to install NB 7.x on new IBM hardware with Windows 2008 R2. How can I go for it? I can create parallel environment. What steps need to be followed.

First upgrade your existing NBU to version 7.1 and then migrate it to new hardware. In that case different operating systems doesn't matter. But NBU version should be same.

Follow below Step (i assumed no clustering involved in NBU environment)

1. Take full catalog backup on old master server (NBU 6.0).

2. I install NBU 7.0.1 on old h/w.

3. Take full catalog backup on old master server (NBU 7.0).

4. I install NBU 7.0.1 on NEW h/w.

5. Configure tape library with master server. (NEW h/w with NBU 7.0)

6. Insert Old catalog backup media in to robot & take inventry in NBU 7.0 from New h/w

7. Start catalog secovery by catalog revovery wizhard from NBU GUI console or you can create DR File by command line as mentioned in NBU guide.

8. check your recovery status on new NBU 7.0.1 master server.

9. now you can install / configure / zonning other NBU media servers on different H/W.

10. Run Device configuration wizard from master server for respective NEW media servers.

Is it possible to restore 6.0 catalog onto 7.1?

I don't think it's possible....

Is any thing wrong ?? (please correct me if you thnk)

Restoring/migrating catalogs between same versions of NBU possible.
