How to tell Netbackup to take the new tape

Sat
Not applicable
Hi ,
I am new to Netbackup. We have installed Netbackup 6.5 in AIX 5.3 . We have one standalone DLT3 tape  drive connected to the netbackup server. We tried to take backup to tape and the tape got filled up and asked to replace the tape and we have inserted the new tape in to the tape drive. Still the netbackup did not continue  taking the backup , do I have to do anything to make netbackup to continue the backup. I have given below the status log. Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

I believe if you click on Device Manager in the GUI, it will show a line saying that action is needed, you can either tell it to retry, or cancel (or somehting like that, it doesn't show up unless you have a pending action). You could also run vmoprcmd -d pr from the command line and vmoprcmd -help to see what to do about it.
Hope this helps.

Excuse me for not taking the time to back this up with facts and logical reasons, but let me say real quick that NBU is a PITA when dealing with standalone tape drives and you may want to rethink the solution.  You can do it, but the lack of bar code reader really just sucks.

In standalone tape drive, you need to manually label the tapes in advance before starting the backup so that netbackup will be aware there is some more tapes. I would also recommend you disable the standalone drive extensions.

Run the inventory on the media so that netbackup can detect the new media.
