Hi I have just read through the "Symantec NetBackup™ for Hyper-V Guide" (for v7.0) which is fairly comprehensive but leaves me with a question: Is it possible to backup virtual servers which are powered off?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks wrobbins you caused me to re-check the document (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH127073&actp=search&viewlocale=en_...) and it is possible:
APPENDIX A
A Hyper-V virtual machine can be in any of the following states: Running, Saved, Paused, or Off .
Table A-1 shows that in the state of "Off" an Offline backup can be performed.

page 67 shows example:
Error bpbrm(pid=8072) Nameuse [0], VM [<vm name>] not found on any node. Is either powered off or does not exist.
The virtual machine is either not running, or it is booting up. Make sure that the virtual machine is running and then rerun the backup.
