Apologies - we missed your last post...

I see the following in your installation log:

rpm: please use alien to install rpm packages on Debian, if you are really sure use --force-debian switch. See README.Debian for more details.

You never told us what exact Linux version is on the Client?
Seems to be some version of Debian GNU/Linux, right?

If we look at the OS Compatibility Guide and we go to Client Selections for Backup Policies section, we see that the Client selection for this OS should be Linux,Debian2.6.18

So go to the Linux folder under /usr/openv/netbackup/client on the master and see if you have a folder for this client type. Check contents of folder. What is in 'version' file?

The two T/N below explain how to push the agent installation to the client from the master

You need to install the Linux binaries on the Solaris master server.

See NBU Installation Guide for UNIX and Linux  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127083

Look for this topic in Chapter 7 - Adding a UNIX client after initial server installation
and then couple of pages back: Installing UNIX clients remotely.

Try this

root@master ~ # /usr/openv/netbackup/client/Linux/RedHat2.6.18/ssh_to_client  <mycomputer.mydomain.com>

for x86

root@master ~ # /usr/openv/netbackup/client/Linux/RedHat2.6x86/ssh_to_client <mycomputer.mydomain.com>

I tried all your solutions but the error is still the same: "Detected an attempt to install incorrect platform and/or operating system and version client binaries on helpdesk.
client_config_failed"

helpdesk is my client.

How do you install the binaries - do you push them out from the master or are you installing local ?

If pushing from master server - what OS and hardware type do you have in the policy ?

Is helpdesk a 32bit OS - Need to be 64bit - Use command "uname -a" or "getconf LONG_BIT".

See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH130456

I'm pushing from master server.

In the policy i have:  HW: Linux-IA64 , OS: RedHat2.6

IA64 is Intel Itanium used in special servers only, you likley have X86_64 instead (verify with uname -a). Try hardware type Linux instead.

# uname -a
Linux srv1.acme.com 2.6.18-238.19.1.el5 #1 SMP Sun Jul 10 08:43:41 EDT 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

And the error message say ?

is the error message the same as this one : http://www.mass.dk/netbackup/quick-hints/90-error-in-opening-vxpbx-cli-resource-bundle.html

No, it's different.

Tthe error is:

The pbx_exchange daemon is not currently running.  It
must be started before NetBackup installation can be continued.
Aborting ...
client_config_failed

I'm trying to start the daemon manually with:

 ./vxpbx_exchanged start

but the output of the command:

 ./vxpbx_exchanged status

is:

Symantec Private Branch Exchange is not running

Please find us the installation log - it will tell you where the log is created as part of the installation log.

One more thing:

Find out if any other software is using port 1556.
We often see that Oracle dba's assign this port to the Oracle Listener.
If so, they need to change. Symantec has officially registered the 1556 port number for PBX.

No one software is working on 1556 port.
